It probably isn’t to be taken seriously, and any column that looks at old movies choosing to look at this one, well that’s on it. In defence of Zoom, this movie does classify itself as goofy. Based upon the children’s book Amazing Adventures from Zoom’s Academy, by Jason Lethco, Zoom follows four super-powered kids who have to be prepared (by Allen’s character Jack Shephard/Captain Zoom) for an imminent threat. Kate Mara ( House of Cards, Fantastic Four) also features, as do Michael Cassidy, Kevin Zegers and Rip Torn. But in 2006, Allen’s comedy act is in the (likely forgettable) superhero comedy pic aptly titled Zoom: Academy for Heroes.ĭirected by Peter Hewitt, Zoom, alongside Allen, stars FRIENDS actor Courteney Cox, Spencer Breslin, Chevy Chase, and Ryan Newman. From being Buzz Lightyear in the Toy Story franchise (which had its latest film in 2019), to playing Conservative Dad Mike Baxter in the series Last Man Standing. Tim Allen as a comedy actor certainly earns his coin.
